In short
An individual licence covers one named person; a team licence covers named seats inside one company, up to your seat count. You may use and adapt the files for internal compliance work, but not share them outside your licence. Every download is watermarked with the licensee's name, organisation and licence reference, so any copy that circulates further is traceable.
Individual licence — one named person
- One named individual may use the files. The licence is personal to the named licensee and is not transferable between people.
- You may install the files on the devices you personally use, print them for your own reference, and quote short extracts internally with attribution to The Passport Brief.
- You may not share, forward, upload or otherwise make the files available to colleagues, clients, contractors or any third party. Internal team use requires a team licence.
- You may not resell, sublicense, publish or redistribute the files, in whole or in part, or use them to build a competing publication or template product.
Team licence — named seats in one company
- Named seats within one legal entity may use the files, up to the seat count on your licence. Seats are managed from My Resources and can be reassigned when someone leaves.
- Each person who uses the files needs their own seat. Sharing a single seat's files across an unseated team is outside the licence.
- You may adapt the editable working files for internal compliance work, including internal-only derivative documents for your own organisation.
- You may not distribute the files or derivatives outside your organisation, including to clients, suppliers or group companies that are separate legal entities.
Applies to every licence
- Updates: each purchase includes resource updates for the period shown on your licence (12 months for the bundle). After that window you keep every version released while it was open.
- Attribution: where an extract is shared internally under this licence, keep the source line and the licensee footer intact.
- Watermarking: every download is stamped with the licensee's name, organisation and licence reference. Do not remove or obscure the stamp.
- Guidance, not advice: the resources summarise EU legislation with sources cited. They are professional guidance, not legal advice, and do not create a client relationship.
- Termination: material breach ends the licence. You must stop using and delete the files; fees already paid are not refunded in that case.
- Governing law: the laws of Norway, without prejudice to mandatory consumer rights in your country of residence.
How is the watermark applied?
Downloads are built at the moment you request them. Each page of every PDF in the archive carries a footer naming the licensee, their organisation, the licence reference and the download date, and the archive includes a LICENCE.txt with the same details. Files are never published at a public address: the member area issues a link that expires within two minutes and only works for the signed-in account that owns the seat.
Refunds and consumer rights
Digital downloads are supplied immediately. Where you buy as a consumer in the EU or EEA, you agree to immediate supply and acknowledge that the statutory 14-day withdrawal right lapses once the download starts. Business buyers purchase under these licence terms only.
If a resource is factually wrong on a point of EU law, tell us: we correct it, reissue the version to every entitled seat at no cost, and refund in full if the correction does not resolve the problem for you.

Frequently asked questions about licensing
Can I share a single-seat resource with my colleagues?
No. An individual licence covers one named person. Colleagues who need the files — including the editable workbooks — need their own seat, which is what a team licence provides. If you bought individually and now need to cover a team, email the editor and the difference is credited against a team licence.
How is the licence enforced?
Every download is generated for you personally: each page of every PDF is stamped with your name, organisation, email and licence reference, and the archive contains a LICENCE.txt naming the same seat. Files are only ever served to a signed-in, entitled account through a short-lived link, so a copy found outside your organisation is traceable to the seat it came from.
What does a team licence cover?
Named seats inside one legal entity, up to the seat count on your licence. You invite and revoke seats yourself in My Resources, each seat gets its own watermarked download, and seats can be reassigned when someone changes role or leaves.
What happens when my update window ends?
You keep every version released while the window was open, permanently. Versions published afterwards require renewing the update window; nothing you already downloaded is withdrawn.
